Most
Worshipful Brother Thomas C. Ehlers took great pleasure in exemplifying a
variety of roles contained in the rituals of each Masonic organization in which
he held membership. He did not merely master the art of memorization. For him
each ritual contained such important truths about the nature of mankind and our
relationship with God and the universe that he became the person whose part he
portrayed. He lifted, by his example, all of us to a higher level of
understanding of what we were engaged in doing. His gentle encouragement made us
eager to work harder and achieve more for the common good. He led by his example
of good humor, even under adversity, and was a faithful friend to every Mason of
whatever degree or title. Here was one of whom it could be truly said that he
was a Master Mason.
