Hermanos del Arte U.D. in Brewster voted to adopt the 3rd grade class at Brewster Elementary School at its October meeting. They felt as part of their community involvement they would host a Christmas party for the three 3rd grade classes at an annual event.
Worshipful Master MW Bill Wood contacted the principal, Eric Driessen, and when he was asked "Why are you doing this?" MW Bill's Response was "That is what Masons do.
Santa's helpers served 18 pizzas and seven cases of pop to the children and their teachers. The teachers received gift certificates for dinner at the Koala Restaurant in Omak from the children (donated by the Lodge). The girls received stuffed animals and the boys received knitted hats and miniature gorillas, along with candy canes from Santa and a "goody bag" to share with their friends.
We're not sure who had more fun - the kids and teachers or the "Lodge family. We do know that everyone had a great time.
The Principal asked Santa to come early to visit the other classes, and he eagerly agreed.
The Pizza and pop were supplied by our Brother Doug Chantry, owner of the Brewster Market Place, at a substantial discount. Donations to fund this event came from both members and non-members, along with a very nice donation from Daylight Lodge "over on the other side."
Thank you to Santa Ed Howell, and all of Santa's helpers: MW Bill Wood and wife Sue; VW Fred Noyes and wife Dottie; VW Clarence Weitman and wife Peg, WB Bob Hill and wife Dina; VW John Lunt, VW "Lucky" Jones, WB Roy Goss, WB Don McNett, and Bro. Albert "Stretch" Bledsoe.
